MCX GOLD UPDATE

Gold on Wednesday held near three-month highs hit the session before, buoyed as political and economic uncertainty in the United States and Europe stoked safe-haven demand.
Spot gold was largely flat at $1,233.06 per ounce by 0616 GMT. On Tuesday, the metal touched its highest since Nov. 11 at $1,235.78.
U.S. gold futures were little changed at $1,236.30 an ounce.
"The biggest momentum behind gold is the fact that the U.S. Federal Reserve did not raise rates in the recent meeting, some uncertainties brought by U.S. President Donald Trump's policies and a weaker dollar," said Jiang Shu, chief analyst at Shandong Gold Group.
"Gold prices will continue to rise until mid-February on uncertainties in the U.S. and Europe. But, once January CPI data is released, it will give an idea about the possibility of a rate hike in March," Shu added.
Controversy over Trump's temporary travel ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries has recently boosted appetite for bullion as a safe-haven asset, while political uncertainty in Europe amid upcoming elections has buoyed the dollar.
"Given the absence of significant data this week, the market's attention may be squarely on politics," HSBC analysts said in a note.
"It is likely that at least some gold buying is the result of uncertainty over U.S. policy, but also investor reaction to the possibility that the far-right, eurosceptic candidate in the French presidential election this year, Marine Le Pen, is gaining momentum in the polls."
Investors are concerned that the far right could win France's presidential vote and take it out of the European Union.
Holdings of SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, climbed 1.01 percent to 826.95 tonnes on Tuesday from Monday. Holdings rose for a fifth straight session.
The rise in holdings, along with recent data from U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), show an increase in long positions for managed money and a decrease in short holders, MKS PAMP Group trader Alex Thorndike said.

A bullish target at $1,249 per ounce has been temporarily aborted for spot gold and will only be resumed when the metal breaks above resistance at $1,237, according to Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao.

MCX BASE METAL UPDATE

As per MCX www.crudeoperator.com intraday research Mumbai base company report for :

 Copper slid on higher dollar and China demand angst

MCX Copper prices fell on Tuesday as the dollar rose and worries about demand growth in top consumer China and elsewhere subdued sentiment, but concerns about supply curbs helped limit losses. Traders say that is particularly worrying in the context of the Chinese yuan, which has been falling since the start of the year, as China accounts for about half of global demand for industrial metals. There are downside risks around China, key areas like automotive and construction look like they are going to have a much slower year this year compared to last year. Traders expect the prospect of a strike at the Escondida copper mine in Chile, the world’s biggest, and Indonesia’s ban on exports from Freeport McMoRan’s Grasberg mine to support copper prices. Nickel was untraded at the close, but bid down one percent at $10,350. The metal has been boosted by expectations of lower supplies after the Philippine government ordered the closure of some mines for environmental reasons. More important to the sustainability of nickel’s bullish narrative is whether Indonesia will further ramp up its output, as it has already been doing for some time now. New Caledonia is also gearing up, granting three more companies the right to export nickel ore to China.

MCX Crude Oil Update

As per MCX www.crudeoperator.com intraday research Mumbai base company report for :

 Oil fell to 2-week low as focus shifted to U.S. stockpile data

MCX Crude Oil prices fell sharply on Tuesday, touching the lowest level in more than two weeks as market players looked ahead to weekly data from the U.S. on stockpiles of crude and refined products. Futures have been trading in a narrow range around the mid-$50s over the past month as sentiment in oil markets has been torn between hopes that oversupply may be curbed by output cuts announced by major global producers and expectations of a rebound in U.S. shale production. U.S. drilling activity has risen by more than 6% since mid-2016, taking it back to levels seen in late 2014, when strong U.S. crude output contributed to a collapse in oil prices. The revival in U.S. drilling has raised concerns that the ongoing rebound in U.S. shale production could derail efforts by other major producers to rebalance global oil supply and demand. OPEC and non-OPEC countries have made a strong start to lowering their oil output under the first such pact in more than a decade as global producers look to reduce oversupply and support prices. January 1 marked the official start of the deal agreed by OPEC and non-OPEC member countries such as Russia in November last year to reduce output by almost 1.8 million barrels per day to 32.5 million for the next six months. The deal, if carried out as planned, should reduce global supply by about 2%.
